Basic Policy for Animal Testing

Our company has established an “Animal Experimentation Committee,” which oversees whether studies are appropriate and in accordance with the “Regulations for Animal Experiments.” The committee also ensures that when an animal study is outsourced to a third party, that entity meets the standards outlined in the “Regulations for Animal Experiments.” These procedures were implemented based upon the “Guidelines for Proper Conduct of Animal Experiments” (Science Council of Japan, June 1, 2006), which is supported by decrees such as such as the "Act on the Welfare and Management of Animals" (Act No. 105, 1973), the "Standards for Care and Storage of Laboratory Animals and Reduction of Distress” (Public Notice No. 88 of the Ministry of the Environment, 2006), and the "Basic Guidelines for Conduct of Animal Experiments at Research Institutes" (Public Notice No. 71 of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, 2006).
