Yatalase™ Fungal Cell Lytic Enzymes

Yatalase is used to lyse cell walls of filamentous fungi. The product is prepared from culture supernatants of Corynebacterium sp. OZ-21, and consists mainly of chitinase, chitobiase and β-1,3-glucanase. Yatalase

DEFINITION OF ACTIVITY

Chitinase activity:
One unit of chitinase activity is determined as the amount required to release 1mol of N-acetylglucosamine from chitin in 1 minute.

Chitobiase activity:
One unit of chitobiase activity is defined as the amount of enzyme required to release 1mol of p-nitrophenol from p-nitrophenyl-N-acetyl-β-D-glucosaminide in 1 minute.

Lytic activity:
One unit of enzyme activity is defined as the amount required to cause a 1% decrease in absorbance in 1 hour.

Application

(Example) Simplified measurement method for biomass of yeast

▪Advantage using Yatalase

Possible to measure biomass with Yatalase.,no need to prepare other enzymes. The measurement method is quite simple and finish in short time (within 4 hours!)

FAQ

(Q) Is the Yatalase applicable to any kinds of filamentous fungi?

(A) Gained very good results in preparation of protoplast for Aspergillus oryzae, Trichoderma reesei, T.viride and T.koningii and possible to reduce amount of Yatalase. In case not sufficient yield of protoplast for Ascomycetes such as other kinds of Aspergillus, Zygomycetes or Basidiomycetes, combination use of 0.5%
