Background

Ganglioside GM3 is a major glycosphingolipid in the plasma membrane and is widely distributed in all types of animal cells. GM3 has been shown to participate in the pathological conditions of Insulin resistance, and to inhibit VEGF/VEGFR-2-mediated angiogenesis through direct interaction between GM3 and VEGFR-2. Moreover, GM3 serves as a common precursor for all other ganglioside series gangliosides and hematosides, so this antibody will be extremely useful for the analysis of the biological functions of acidic glycosphingolipids.

SOURCE This monoclonal antibody is produced by a hybridoma which is a cell fusion of mouse myeloma (P3U1) and spleen cell from C57BL/6 mouse which immunized by melanoma cells from C57BL/6 mouse.
